Duty of Care—Global Violence, Intergenerational Memory, Narrative Ethics, and the Work of Peacebuilding

Spring Session:

29 March - 5 April 2026 | Oxford & Belfast

Regular application deadline is 10 December 2025. If spaces remain, the second deadline will close 15 January 2026.

Fall Session:

13 - 20 September 2026 | Oxford & Belfast

Each session begins with four days at Merton College, University of Oxford, followed by an optional three-day narrative fieldwork program in Belfast, Northern Ireland.


FEES AND PAYMENT:

The all-inclusive cost for the 2026 Oxford Duty of Care short course (Spring or Fall session) is £1575.00 GBP.

Course fees include:

  • Private en suite accommodation at Merton College

  • Tuition and instructional materials, speakers, panels, and workshop sessions

  • Two instructional Zoom sessions with speakers prior to arrival

  • At least two meals a day, including a final formal banquet dinner

Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from Oxford and for meeting any country entry requirements.

Additional details about the optional Belfast fieldwork—including estimated travel and program costs—will be shared approximately three months prior to travel.

A £400 Deposit is due upon acceptance. The deposit is nonrefundable, but may be transferred to a future symposium. The remaining of £1175 is due 45 days prior to the start date.


Daily sessions: Sessions are held from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Merton College.

Special events: The week includes one special evening session and a final banquet dinner.

Free time: One afternoon is reserved to explore Oxford at your leisure.

Accommodation: Participants check-in on Sunday afternoon and check out Thursday.
